Getting where you need to go.

It’s a fact: Young people are on the move more than ever, taking more trips and traveling more miles than youth did 15 years ago. And let’s face it, besides commuting to school or work, there’s also a lot of really cool things to do and places to explore out there!

Ohio Healthy Transitions Project Navigators can help you figure out the best way for you to get around, depending on your individual needs and circumstances. For information on how to sign up, call 216.320.6404, or email/text LevelUp@wingspancg.org.
Getting your driver's license
Getting your first car
  • In some areas, especially Lorain County, getting around can be a little tricky if you don’t have a car. When looking for a vehicle to purchase or lease, choose a car that is reliable and not just one with a flashy paint job or upgraded sound system. It’s helpful to include a trusted friend, family member or older adult to assist with the decision-making process. You may also consider asking a mechanic friend for advice or to check out the car for overall mechanical functioning before you decide to buy
  • Research dealers and read reviews—there are many scams or people selling vehicles without all the necessary documentation. When purchasing a vehicle, make sure you get the title documentation
  • Check the CARFAX™ history report on the vehicle
  • Test drive before buying
  • Budget not only for payment/car note, but also ongoing maintenance
  • FTC Guidelines on Financing or Leasing a Vehicle
  • In Getting Your First Car, there is a lot to consider
    • Make sure the vehicle you get is in good condition
    • Know your asking price and stick to it
  • Different vehicles have different requirements
  • Important!: How to Title your Vehicle and How to Register & Renew Registration for your Vehicle (there’s a difference)
